- Module 1 - Introduction and the History of PetroleumIn this module, participants will gain a comprehensive overview of the offshore industry, exploring its origins, evolution, and global importance in petroleum exploration and production. The course introduces the fundamental concepts that shaped the offshore sector, from early exploration efforts to today’s advanced technologies supporting deepwater operations.1
- Module 2 - Types of Offshore VesselsThis module introduces participants to the wide range of offshore vessel types and their specialized functions within the offshore industry. Through this session, learners will gain a clear understanding of vessel classifications—such as Offshore Supply Vessels (OSVs), Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessels, and Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs)—and explore their key operational roles, capabilities, and support functions in offshore exploration, production, and construction projects.1
- Module 3 - Dynamic Positioning of Offshore VesselsThis module provides a comprehensive overview of Dynamic Positioning (DP) systems and their critical role in modern offshore operations. Participants will learn how DP systems maintain a vessel’s position and heading automatically using thrusters, sensors, and reference systems. The module covers the main components of DP systems, types of position reference sensors, operational principles, and the responsibilities of the Dynamic Positioning Operator (DPO). It also outlines the training, certification, and competency requirements necessary to become a certified DPO in accordance with international standards.1
- Module 4 - Materials Used in Offshore VesselsThis Module will provide knowledge about the materials, tools, and equipment commonly used onboard offshore vessels, focusing on their operational purposes, maintenance requirements, and selection according to the vessel’s type and function.1
- Module 5 - Safety on Board Offshore VesselsThis module will teach participants about essential onboard safety practices, hazard awareness, and risk assessment in offshore operations, emphasizing the importance of safe behavior, emergency preparedness, and compliance with international safety standards.1
- AssessmentTo complete the Offshore Vessels Fundamentals training program, participants must pass a final assessment designed to evaluate their understanding of all modules covered in the course, including: 1-Introduction and history of petroleum 2-Types of offshore vessels 3-Dynamic positioning basics 4-Materials used in offshore vessels 5-Safety practices and risk assessment onboard The assessment consists of multiple-choice questions that measure knowledge of real operational concepts and safety principles used in the offshore industry. Learners must achieve the minimum passing score to successfully complete the program. Certification Participants who pass the assessment will receive an Official Certificate of Completion, recognizing their successful achievement of the Offshore Vessels Fundamentals training program and their readiness to apply these essential concepts in maritime or offshore environments.1
